SMI’s association with the minerals industry comes in many forms. The great majority of research projects are industry funded, either by groups of companies or individual companies. Representatives of industry serve on advisory committees which exist for each Centre. The extensive continuing education programme is principally delivered to the industry.

A highly valued industry association for SMI is via company membership of SMI or more correctly, of SMI Central. The following organisations are members of SMI by virtue of annual funding contributions to SMI Central.
