Mineral processing research is conducted within the JKMRC. The emphasis is on the modelling and simulation of beneficiation methods. A relatively new area is concerned with geometallurgy which is investigating the association between the geological properties of ores and subsequent processing .The foundation of JKMRC research rests with the AMIRA P9 Mineral Processing Project, a remarkable activity which began in 1962 and has operated continuously since then in originally three year, and now four year extensions.
